Media Review Thursday: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Written by TheChoujinVirus

Note: The following review is based on my experience with the first main game of the MMO: A Realm Reborn; there is some merged-based content from other expansions (e.g., Races, etc.). Also some spoilers to the game itself.

With the World of Warcraft mess happening, some folks move to other MMOs until things are fixed or stay there forever. From the old Star Wars: The Old Republic to the newly released New World. However, one game I got into, thanks to the WoW Guild I was in, got my interest in the series (and it’s a series I’ve known since I was a kid.)

Originally released September 10th, 2010, then unceremoniously shut down to be remade and restarted on August 13th, 2013 as A Realm Reborn. Final Fantasy XIV is an MMO that has a following through each platform. Though can Eorzea stand while under the shadow of Azeroth? Let’s explain a bit of the game and see if it A Realm Reborn does stand the time a second time around.

Story+Gameplay

The brief story of FFXIV’s A Realm Reborn can be summarized into this. Five years ago (the first FFXIV), the Calamity resulted in the world nearly being devastated as the Alliance and the high-tech Garlean Empire waged war at Carteneau. The moon reawakens as the primal Bahamut, thus ravaging the world and both sides. You, a survivor of that incident (If you had a character made in the first 1.0 game), or waking up on a cart after a dream on your way to your chosen city in order. You start out helping your town with several problems and learn more about the land, the threats, and the enemies to Eorzea. Throughout your journey, you help out Alliance, A group composed of three nation-states: Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul’Dah. The groups must deal with the warlike beastmen and their Primal Gods and the resurgence of the Garlean Empire and their new weapon. All while solving the mystery of your character’s role in this ordeal as well as exposing a shadowy enemy pulling strings….

Gameplay-wise, FFXIV behaves like a typical MMO with your class triad system of DPS, Tank, and Healer classes. Though Each of them is categorized into four categories.

The first group is your offensive jobs: Disciples of War and Disciples of Magic. War is composed of physical groups like the Pugilist, Archer, and Rogue. At the same time, Magic is your spellcasters like Conjurers, Arcanists, and Black Mages. The other two Disciples are crafting and gathering called Disciples of Hand and Land. The exciting thing about the crafting professions is that they behave less like typical MMO variants of preparing gear or weapons. You have abilities like recover “durability,” increase completion, and even increases chances of producing high-quality items (Which can be better than some quest equipment.)

The combat classes, on the other hand, have nothing much change save for more cooldowns. However, they are more action and combo-based than WoW’s rotations. Each class also behaves uniquely, meaning some types may have a specific role but have ways of doing it differently than others. For example, though the Bard and Dancer are ranged DPS, one is more offensive buffs like the Bard. At the same time, the Dancer provides a more offensive healing ability. Another is how both the Paladin and Dark Knight are tank classes. Still, while the Paladin uses powers to protect and heal themselves, the Dark Knight uses debuffs to weaken the targets they’re attacking. Besides combat on the field and in dungeons, you also have Player Vs. Player combat, and if you’re bored with that, you got the cute minigame of the Mandeville Gold Saucer. It is a large casino with various minigames like Triple Triad, Chocobo Racing, Mahjong, and other games for you to enjoy. Perfect for when you’re not attacking bosses or waiting for your Extreme Trial.

Bearers of Light: What the game shines in

One of the core aspects of the game’s shining moments is the story and quests. A Realm Reborn’s Main Story Quests have you doing missions that aren’t the usual “Kill and bring me back four bear asses” routine seen in MMOs like WoW. They also provide worldbuilding of the location, Eorzea’s worldbuilding, and various events that can unlock features. Most will have you visiting a destination or talking to people. You have missions that have you killing or collecting, but you have more guaranteed chances than just having to kill 10 animals for one part.

Another benefit is that in FFXIV, your character can be any class. That’s right, your character isn’t locked to the class they start in the game. You can choose to change styles freely. Bored as a Monk? Maybe become a Blue Mage! Maxed out your carpentry skills? Maybe try out fishing or even leatherworking. You don’t need to roll a new character to try out jobs. Also, no race is locked out of jobs or professions, so you can be a lalafel dragoon as well as a lalafel white mage. Also, professions are in the same thing as you’re not limited to just one job.

Lastly, the music. The game has some fantastic music that is enjoyable. Mounts have their own theme, some bosses have their own tunes, towns and regions have their own songs, and you can see some remixed themes like the Triple Triad theme or Chocobo Racing theme. The music is oh so enjoyable. My favorite themes happen to be Titan’s theme (which has an awesome rock theme, no pun intended.) And the theme for Good King Moogle Mog, as it’s very Tim Burton-esque.

Blundered Moogle Crap: What the game flops in

Though the game has plenty of fun, some problems in the game itself can be a detriment. One such example is the story. Though the story is good, it’s very, very, very long! In a Realm Reborn, you have the main story and the post-patch stories that fill in between ARR and the first expansion Heavensword. For new players, A Realm Reborn can be a make-or-break experience in the game itself.

Another problem is that though your character can be whatever they want to be, it cheapens any investment into your character. You can just change gear or jobs like that without needing anything required. A significant problem is that player customization is not as accessible as some expect, though simple. Also, some races cant wear helmets like the Viera races. Also, until the new expansion of Endwalker arrives, you cannot play Male Viera or female Hrothgar.

Lastly, the game is pretty casual. If you’re the kind who rushes to endgame as fast as you can, you’re going to find that there’s no reward for speeding to the end. It’s kinda like a fine wine you savor and not a soda you guzzle. It can be a turn-off for some people, but I enjoy it.

Should you Bear the light of the Crystal? My conclusion.

If you want an MMO in an era of WoW’s decline due to whatever reason you believe. FFXIV’s got some good deals and items for the time being out there. If you’re a fan of Final Fantasy and want to enjoy content without the rush of raid preparation or other things that you might find in other MMOs.

I would say go for it and explore Eorzea. Oh, and if anyone’s interested, I could lend a refer a friend if you want. Just put into the comments and I’ll lend a refer-a-friend if you are interested. Not shilling for the game or anything, I just find the game interesting and such.

Tuesday Mumbles: Identity Theft

Written by TheChoujinVirus

Note: The following is based on my own opinion and is not meant to be a reflection of actual experience.

Happy Tuesday everyone, it’s Ya boy Choujin here.

A week ago, ya boy had found his card wasn’t working. Upon doing a check with the bank, I found out that my card got compromised. Appaarently, two days ago, someone from Turlock tried to use my card to buy 130 bucks worth of Pizza (and it was Pizza Guys pizza. Not knocking on those that love them. Though I don’t know if that would be worth 130 bucks of pizza). However, it was annoying was that it meant I didn’t have any way of buying physical stuff! (I still have Paypal but you can’t do shopping via it..yet.)

Bet you’re wondering how that whole thing started? Well..I can’t put my finger but my issue was due to a compromised payment system. Those would be those credit readers you see in grocery stores and such. Where it happened? who knows? May have been at the pet store or in Old Sacramento. Can’t point fingers as it can happen to anybody. It’s annoying when you go shopping and you don’t know until you try to buy something and find your card invalid. However, lucky for me, nothing was lost just was locked out.

However, i’ve heard some folks aren’t that lucky and find themselves in the hole, and some are used for far worse stuff. Like losing your savings as some guy from India hacked your card and bought Fortnite Vbucks to sell to people. Lucky for me, I am a bit cautious.

Though some would say I should invest in some stuff like SecureLock or whatever group that’ll protect you from this. When in short, even that won’t be a safe thing.

Though I would have to say, what more annoys me is that someone would go that way to steal your card just for crappy pizza (again, not ragging on Pizza Guys or those who like them.) Just scratching my head on this crap.

Either way, nothing else of any problem. With that over, I hope it doesn’t happen again or to anyone else. Nobody should have to deal with that mess (not even my worse enemies.)

Tuesday Mumbles: The Activision-Blizzard Mess

Written by TheChoujinVirus

Note: the following is based on my own opinion and experiences. Do not take any of this personally

Happy (or not-so happy) Tuesday everyone, it’s ya boy Choujin here.

I have never seen a hot mess like this since the Harvey Weinstein crap.

What crap am I talking about?

Well if you haven’t heard much of the news lately, here’s a link right here from Bloomberg talking about the situation.

Activision-Blizzard, the very same company that gave everyone Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo, literally promoted a toxic working behavior for everyone! Basically they did crap that made Riot look tame.

Where to start? Well we got what was amassed and summarized

They created a “frat boy” culture harassed women

denied them promotions because they could get “pregnant”

weird drunken “cube crawls” where they would harass and hit on women while on work.

kicking women out of a breastfeeding room just so they could us it for meetings (or even just stare.)

In short, really deplorable behavior that I’d never see the day happen to ya boy’s favorite company. Many people upon hearing news of this decided to burn their wow subscription (some going extremes in a total boycott.) Others, fearing this may lead to the death of WoW in general, remain playing the game regardless of the outcome even it if they get branded as “enablers” by some out there.

To say ya boy feels ill is an understatement. I feel like this mess has brought about so many problems.

So what will happen to Activision-Blizzard?

Sadly, Ya boy doesn’t know that answer and I have a feeling that things may get a bit ugly before things get better.

Though that means I may not be spending time in Azeroth for a while. Which is a shame as I was just return back to my game. Until then, I may be exploring other MMOs and hoping that somehow my favorite company and game doesn’t become a casualty due to this kind of behavior.

Until then, you all be safe this Tuesday

Friday Fan-Work: Tragedy Begets Hope

Written By TheChoujinVirus

Sorry about the lack of responses this week, been a bit busy with setting things up and such as well as trying a new game that’ll be ready for a review next week. However, I do have something short for you all to enjoy while my review is being written. I had an interesting week that had tragedy but also some hope to it. Something everyone needs to hold in these dark times.

Tragedy Begets Hope

A week ago, my dog had to be put down….
The old girl was a long member of my life…
The pain of it still hits me hard
Like a piece of me pierced by a knife.

Then a week after that, my grandmother’s cat died
felled to due a raspatory infection
She took it hard due to now being alone.
alone with a growing sadness and depression.

Though suddenly, like a strange ghost
the sound of a kitten’s mews is heard
beckoning us to help her.
On one Saturday night, we answered her beckoning words

Little Arya is her name
and she became a beacon of hope.
as though some hand of God has intervened
and helped us out…

You can say that tragedy begat hope
and that Arya was the light in our darkest moment
and I would say this:
“yes..she did begat hope”

(Late) Friday Fan-Work: Observation

Written by TheChoujinVirus

Happy Saturday everyone, it’s ya boy Choujin here.

Sorry about the long no absences of fanwork, i’m sure everyone has missed that stuff. Good news is that I had a spur-the-moment piece of short fiction that gives a bit of a intermission between the events of a DnD Campaign that’s coming close to the end.

With that, sit back, relax and enjoy the short piece of work.

Through the conquest in Barovia, each blow against the dark powers was a weakening blow.  They felt their
powers wane as the final battle comes close, but another power felt their influence growing. In the plane of Muspelheim, the lord of the realm began to feel his influence growing in that darkened land. The fire giant Surtur sat on his throne as he began to anxiously wait for any news from his harbinger. Though as he waited patiently, another being entered the area. A human with a combed back ashen grey hair and robes resembled a cross between a clergyman’s robes made from raven feathers.

“Lord Surtur,” The being bowed, “I have returned with the job of fetching this…soul..”
The being pulls out a blue flamed spirit that danced in his hands eagerly like some rodent curious of its surroundings. Surtur turned his attention toward the being as he replies, “good….”

“Though pardon my questioning your authority, but you had me go to the site where Farina fought the revenants in the silver temple and the town of dogmen to find this soul?”

Surtur stared then stood up upon the being’s response as his voice boomed, “Soul?! This soul is something Farina requested me to take in. I don’t take requests from my beings lightly, nor do I trivially do such matters of mortality. However, if this creature is willing to accept my offer, then he will serve well under my banner.”

The being seems flustered but replies, “Very well, my lord. This soul shall be forged in your fires and brought a new body. Though I must warn you that Hel herself wouldn’t tolerate me violating what is rightfully hers in the end. “

“As I would care if she is cheated or not.” The fire giant boomed, “If Farina wants to do it, I have no qualms with her wish. Though she will know that whatever that soul becomes, it’s under her responsibility. Now deal with it as you see fit.”
The being bows as he leaves Surt to his forged chair. Throughout the campaign moments, he more or less watched and felt Farina’s weapon swinging and slamming into targets. Sometimes she would make smart moves, while others, she would make foolish ones. Though he found her resistance to the dark power’s offer of gifts to be something…impressive in his molten eyes. Though an unbuckling weapon is one thing, now he waits for the final moment..the blow against the dark forces in their puppet Strahd. Though Farina’s pact weapon is strong to burn and crush enemies, sooner or later, a sword would need to be tempered or improved, or complimented.
He reached into a nearby brazier near him and pulled out a fire. He slowly dances about formless before he clenched his hand over it. He moved from his throne toward a large hot forge in the room. Throwing the fire into it, he watched as the fire started to change shape as it began to change from crackling fire to the sound of a neighing animal taking shape.

“…and my Ebon Blade shall ride upon a nightmare..no a catastrophe that will herald my inevitable arrival..”

He reached his hand into the forge and pulled out a shape. No longer a fire, but more of a steed of war. Forged from fire and infused with war. A horse with eyes burning flickering with conquest. Hooves that when it struck, sounded like loud metal hitting hard rock. Its skin, though it may look like a demon, infused and flickered with the powers of its birthplace. The Fire Giant looks at the creation and only says the words
“Catastros, you shall be the steed for my champion and carry her conquest across all the lands!”
The horse reared up on its legs as it neighed triumphantly in response to the Fire Lord’s booming voice.

While somewhere within Surtur’s home, the raven-robed being was at work with his “forge.” His forge resembled various things of forged armors and cages that seemed to be shaped like humanoid bodies. Surtur allowed the follower of Hel to find those worthy in his eyes and give them a second chance. Though the choice matters in the soul, for should the Soul fail..it will experience true death. The being places the soul inside one of the humanoid cages and preps it by placing a hook. With the sound of grinding and creaking, the hook hoists the cage and moves it near a large pool of molten slag. Slowly it descends, dipping the caged soul into the hot pool. The being began to ponder to himself. He, an envoy of Hel and aids Surt with his connection to the undead, was doing small errands like this. At the same time, one of his harbingers galivant across Barovia. His attention turns toward the submerged cage as he figures out it has stewed long enough. He makes the machine pull the cage up. He smiled as he saw that the cell didn’t melt but now looked like it wasn’t melted. It, too, seemed changed and altered. The hook drops this amalgamation onto the ground. The being looks at the work as he sees the molten slag now sliding off the being. What was once steel and wire was now flesh and bone..and what was once a blue soul was a living being..a Dragonborn reborn. Though he would be unconscious but altered from his last trip.
The being smiled as he strokes the top crest of the unconscious Dragonborn

“Welcome back to the living..now, let’s see what Surtur will need for a Dragonborn thief like yourself….”

(Late) Tuesday Mumbles: Tuesday Mumbles: Commercialization of Civil Rights.

Written by TheChoujinVirus

Note: The following topic may contain some things that might upset people. These are based on my opinions and not intended to be offensive.

In memory of my dog, Razelle.

Rest well, old girl.

Happy Tuesday everyone, it’s ya boy Choujin here.

Pride Month is over, and now as we enter July, I’ve noticed one thing that I find disturbing. No, I’m not talking about the anti-LGBT+ comments that treat the community like something but something worse. I’m talking about those pushing a financial thing on the month.

Pride Month was an exciting month that let me learn more about the community and give those a voice when needed. However, one thing that gets me miffed is that you don’t need to tell me to buy rainbow socks to support them. Now I’m not arguing against Pride Month, I just don’t feel like slapping a dollar sign on it does any good.

I’m tired of when we have days where social-political movements end up becoming some kind of sick aspect of selling products. I can understand the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and even Christmas when it comes to sales day. Still, when some people use Black History Month or Pride Month, it kinda rubs me the wrong way when you try and push money onto it.

It also cheapens the ordeal when you turn something about people’s plights as an excuse to line your pocket. Since as you see right now, sales and promotion of Pride Month have already stopped and now behave like any other thing. Like just one moment and nothing, back to square one. It also gives a false sense of accomplishment by teaching people you’re helping the LGBT community by buying the said item and not doing anything. In short, it promotes slactivism and makes the whole thing as trivial as buying a cup of coffee to “save the whales.”

As I began to talk, another friend of mine reminded me that though it may feel wrong, there is some good in this. He explained that it can bring awareness, even if it means selling rainbow socks or a lot of understanding. Like my grandmother told me, some people need to be enticed with products and various items to be aware of the situation.

I still scratch my head about that, but…if results show..maybe they do have a point.

Though in my opinion, maybe educating people on what the month is while they purchase to make a more informed person. That way, you can make people fewer slacktivists and more activists. Explain to people what Pride Month is or what Black History Month really is.
Show them that it’s more than just buying something and saying you’re doing your part.

Environmentalists use this method so it doesn’t leave people buying kale, and that’s it.

Hopefully, next year in 2022, we may be better informed and not clueless. Otherwise, we may be getting used to seeing commercials advertising about “special deals” on Pride Month. Crap will trivialize LGBT+ issues all for a 50% off on furniture or special items on sale…..

But nothing about the awareness of LGBT+ issues or what the problems they have to deal with, all trivialized so someone can buy a pride flag and call it a day. That all the support they get being gone, like the one moment of token good faith you see in some during holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving.

Do you feel that some months or days made to promote awareness of things be commercialized like other things? If so or no, why do you think that way?

Thursday Media Review: Stellaris

Written By TheChoujinVirus

Note: The following review may contain spoilers to the game itself.

Space: the final frontier; These are the geopolitical and expansionistic voyages of the Not Imperium of Man. Its ongoing mission, to purge dangerous Xenos, to seek out all threats in the name of the God-Emperor, to boldly Exterminatus like no one has done before…

No, it’s not a poorly written Star Wars and 40k Crossover; it’s a popular Paradox game called Stellaris. Released on May 9th, 2016, and released in 2019 for the consoles, lastly on the Xbox Series X/S in 2021. It’s a 4x Strategy game similar to those like the Civilization series. (it was inspired by games like Master of Orion 2 and Star Control 2, according to Director Henrik Fahraeus). So does this game stack up to those kinds of games? Well, that’s what ya boy’s here to do: Let’s jump into light speed and get into Stellaris.

Gameplay

Stellaris isn’t a game with a default story, as YOU get to make the story in the gameplay. You have a choice of several premade empires to play. However, suppose you’re adventurous, a role-player, or someone who loves other sci-fi races. In that case, you can build your own alien races from the various stocks. Regardless of what you do with your empire, the objective of the game is simple: Become the supreme power in the galaxy while surviving the various threats the game will throw at you, such as dreaded leviathans, rival empires, vengeful fallen empires, catastrophes, space pirates, and even marauders led by great kahns. Luckily, your empire (built or created) has unique abilities to help you out. Maybe your species are very hearty at gathering resources, your government’s ethics giving you better upkeeps. Perhaps your origin providing you with an edge like having your own personal gateway in your system, Or maybe you’re just a space version of Skynet wanting to purge meat bags. In Stellaris, there’s more to the game than colonizing worlds, expanding your empire, and crushing your enemies. There is a galactic political aspect to the game too. You’ll have to please your empire’s political parties or galactic neighbors—things like how you treat pre-spacefaring civilizations, planetary refugees, or liberating slaves. So be careful if you’re the kind who runs xeno-slave rings or just an outright douchebag. Cuz it can lead you to be blocked off through border closing or even having a war at your doorstep. You have resource management as well, as your empire needs to be happy. Resources like Ammenties are required to ensure your workers can afford to work. You need jobs to ensure things like consumer goods or law enforcement to ensure crime can’t thrive. By the near end of the game, you’ll deal with a mechanic called a Crisis, which is something that’ll wipe everyone out if no one is careful or prepared. Depending on the whole galaxy is your plaything or battleground, you can make it a utopia or constant warfare.

Galactic Wonders: What makes the Game good

Stellaris has many impressive features that folks will enjoy. One such thing that the gameplay is variable but can be customizable to fit whatever you or other players will like. Maybe you don’t want marauders in this galaxy or make things harder with fewer hyperlanes or other items. Sure, you can’t get achievements if you play it this way, but it’s something impressive. The second thing that the game has a TON of content. Some of the newest content provides new gameplay and even new empires. For example, Synthetic Dawn introduces Mechanical empires into the mix, and Lithoids give you Rock aliens to play. Megacorp introduces the ability to play Megacorporation Empire, which lets you build branch offices (or criminal undergrounds) in some empires. Lastly, Nemesis’s latest expansion not only introduces espionage but allows you to BE the endgame crisis. The final and personal favorite thing in this is that the game has a thriving modding community. Usually, ya boy isn’t fond of needing mods to experience a game, but Stellaris makes having mods enjoyable. Some of them are cosmetic or add a feature into the game. One such mod I could suggest is NSC2. It’s a mod that provides a TON of quality of life features, new ships, buildings, and other cool features that makes playing a bit easier and less tedious. Another mod that makes things enjoyable (and realistic) is Planetary Diversity. It’s a mod that fills your galaxy with various planetary biomes like Tidal-locked worlds, primal worlds, and even the strange luminous worlds. Whatever you want in your Stellaris game, there’s a mod for it.

Black Holes: What the game lacks

Though the game is good, some problems can be a buzzkill while playing. One such is that though the game is fun, it’s very complicated due to all the various things to manage. Things like managing Empire Sprawl, so you don’t go over, ensuring your empire upkeep doesn’t produce deficits. Ordering your envoys for empires and even keeping an eye out on planet populations. Those things can lead to people feel intimidated when playing the game for the first time. Another problem with Stellaris is that the multiplayer setup can be a pain. Sure, you can play against AI empires; it’s the player empires that work. The issue is that the constant content and DLC in the game means that some people will have to get the content and DLC needed. Meaning if someone doesn’t have any content, they won’t be able to join the session. The last thing that can be a pain and a turn-off is this: The game has a TON of content. Sure it’s nice and all, but sometimes it can be overwhelming to experience the entire game itself. So picking and choosing each DLC can be a pain in the wallet if you want ALL The content. Luckily, the developers have made some packs available in bundles.

Star surprises

Some may not have noticed, but Stellaris has several easter eggs found throughout the game. One example is Warhammer 40k, as you have things like the Gene Seed Purification technology and the Devouring Swarm government for hiveminds. You even have references from the likes of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the galaxy and some references from Sid Meir’s Alpha Centauri. There are so many things linked, but the link here will explain the whole thing here.

Galactic ambition: Should you get this game?

In conclusion to my review of Stellaris, I’d say that it’s a game that’s not your mother’s Civilization or Red Alert. Suppose you like to play games that involve heavy micromanagement with a sci-fi twist, or you’re just a 40k Fanboy who wants to be the God-Emperor of your own Imperium. In that case, I’d suggest you get this game and enjoy it. Ya Boy enjoys this game and uses it to help with worldbuilding his empires for his stories.

Tuesday Mumbles: Vaccine Briberies

Written By TheChoujinVirus

Note: The following is based on my own opinion. So do not take it too personally if you dislike them.

Happy Tuesday everyone, it’s ya boy Choujin here.
Everybody’s been getting shots so far some have both and some have their first. Though what gets ya boy curious is how some are still refusing to get these shots.
So what do states do to get these people to get their shots? Well..as I shown here, some of them are going the rout of essentially bribing folks.

How are states doing this? Well..you have your classical things like payments, even weird things like lottery ticket drawings for a million dollars to things like free beer once we reach to normalcy. Free donuts or even hotwings for those that get their vaccine.

Now, ya boy is someone who doesn’t mind a free beer or food for those who get their first/second shot, that’s something okay. Doctors give kids a lollipop or toy for being good. However, high monetary value?! Eeeh, that’s something that’s an extremely dangerous game that ya boy thinks is very sus.

If you have to bribe people with money to get a shot…that’s going to lead to people only doing it to get free handouts and some may try to scam stuff to get extra money. Folks can become real world Warios the moment they could grease their hands with money. What makes it worse is that some folks can get scammed as they chase this little pocket of gold.

Now for things like food, beer or something that isn’t cash or value can be something of a good incentive to help people out. I could maybe suggest things like discounts on groceries or even a big mac would be something that could be. However, even I suspect that could be abused. It almost feels like ya boy doesn’t know what he’s talking about or even know any true answer.

Though some folks, including ya boy’s grandmother, said that it may be a good incentive to get people to get the shot (even if it means paying people.)

I do respect her wish, but it just doesn’t feel right to pay someone just to get a shot. Feels a bit mercenary. As I said, I would rather stick to either free food or discounts for things like that or groceries could be something of a bit more of value that doesn’t feel wrong.

Though, in my honest opinion, having to use any incentive for something like a shot shouldn’t be be something to get a shot to begin with.

Does ya boy know what the right answer is? I don’t know, but as my grandmother told me, “If it gets folks their shot and gets us back to normal? Then Let them.”
