Friday Fan-Work

Hey, it’s ya boy, Choujin.

Today’s a new Friday, and new fanwork. While your boy (or yourself) are probably waiting for Phantasy Star Online 2 to let you long in. I’ve found one of my older works again. The bad news is that i’m running out of old work to share. However, the good news is that I’ll be musing some new original stuff soon. For now, enjoy a poem I wrote about my first hat I got.

                                                         My Hat

I remembered when I got my hat.
It was on the Christmas of 2013
My grandmother gave you to me
like it was a literal missing piece to me

You were my hat
and we never left each other’s sides
Like brothers, but a stronger bond than
Jim and Old Yeller.

When I go out without you
I feel like I’m naked without you on my head
I wonder if you think the same thing
without me under you.

Though sometimes I admit
that I may be a hataphiliac
since I don’t leave the house without you
or your siblings on my head.

I always wear you on my head
and I admit you make me look good
hopefully nothing bad happens to you
because I don’t think anything would replace
my hat.

Fan-Work Friday

Happy Friday everyone, it’s ya boy, Choujin! Today’s another Fan-work Friday and it’s another classic from my creative writing class now two years ago. It’s a Ballard, So sit back relax and enjoy this little piece of work.

Ballard of Gamers

A boy fires up his video game
Ready for some fun
away from the bright sun
as he adventures into his fantasy world

Traveling with monkeys, dinosaurs, plumbers and swordsmasters
Seeking out Sacred Stones or fighting in Holy Wars
with only his Binding Blade as fights like his boy Roy

The boy pops out one game, and plays another
Time Lording with new allies, staying the course
going through Hyrule and Skyrim
crushing and defeating every force.

In the end, a greater force stops him
Greater than Ganon, Bowser or Maedus, like no other
it stands at the door of his room, arms crossed
for it’s the boy’s mother.

Friday Fan-Work+Announcement

Heya, it’s ya boi Choujin. Before we get to the Fanwork today, I got an announcement.
Ya boi’s going back to community college, starting Monday and Wednesday, which means that I’ll be doing some work and making a challenge. So this means that some schedules for Monday Mumbles and Wednesday Media reviews will be now moved to Tuesday and Thursday (until March)
So Monday Mumbles are now Tuesday Mumbles
and Wednesday Media Review will be Thursday
Fridays will be unchanged so woot!

now with that out of the way, let’s get to what you came for: some fanworks!

Time Ars Poetica

I’ve known my great grandfather’s old saying

“You can do it fast or do it right”

I wonder if he was talking about poetry.

Poetry is something that needs time to grow

like a flower starting from a seed.

It must savored like a meal, if you eat it too fast

you’ll upset your stomach.

and like painting fine artwork

you can’t rush it or it’ll turn out badly.

As I’m thinking and pondering on my works

I take my time letting the poem simmer and cook

ensuring that the poem sounds good

its meat prepared as words on the paper.

I take my time to ensure the details match

like colors on a canvas that don’t clash.

When time is taken, a poem’s true potential

can be made.

Just remember an old saying from a kid’s movie:

“You can’t rush art.”

When that potential is made, it becomes a meal that one enjoys

a fine piece of work that is viewed by many

and a beautiful flower.

Only by taking that time, can one create good poems.

Friday Fan-Work

Hey, it’s your boy Choujin. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and either curled up somewhere warm or nice and toasty. Anyway, I got another piece of work from my college work. This little one was inspired from this piece of work done by H.R. Giger (the artist behind movies like Alien and Species) as an example of writing a poem based on a piece of art. Anyway I hope you enjoy it as much as I do

                                                      Pisces Zinc

A strange fish swims
in an alien body of water
whisker-like protrusions resembling webbed
fingers
Its back fin resembling a foot and leg
creating a serpentine body of two
fused limbs.
This abomination swimming in this surreal sea
with its kin, all looking the same.
All knowing the basics
swim, survive and live

What strange world this fish exists
in the mind of the very god that created it and
its kin.
Strange surreal animals, unaware of their creator
and only doing what they do best
Swim, survive and live

In the mind of God, or anyone who sees these creatures
they would be considered nightmares
abominations
demons born of
a hellish nightmare
and terrifying
However, to these creatures
their animal instincts blind them
to scorn or judgment

to them, they only do the only things they know
Swim, survive and live
swim, survive and live

Friday Fan-Work+Schedule

hey, its your boy, Choujin! Today’s Friday so it’s time for some of my old fan works from college this time.
Oh and on a minor note, I’ll be doing a bi-weekly schedule with my blogging. The reason is that it’ll let me make a bit more quality work and not be rushed on certain things (Eg, Monday Mumbles, Wednesday media reviews, ect) so hopefully it might allow more polish.

Anyway, time for some flash fiction. Today’s Friday Fan Work is a concrete poem from college. So sit back, grab a beverage and enjoy the work and i’ll see you next week, the week of Thanksgiving.

Concrete Poem: Hate

Hate
Hate exists
Hate never dies
It can’t be stopped
or can it be stopped?
It can be stopped
Hate can’t win
nor exist
Easy
might be
but it’s not
For Hate always fights
It always tries to struggle
for it takes more
than just one
to stop
hate.
It exists
if you allow
it to grow and thrive.
but if one starves
and stifles it.
Hate can’t
thrive.
